Lara Ferroni's Food Photography Workshops

I recently had the pleasure of attending two food photography classes, both taught by food photographer, Lara Ferroni, in her new Georgetown studio. One centered around styling and the other focused more on lighting the dishes. I enjoyed every single minute of my classes.

Lara is very laid-back, cooking and styling while talking and engaging the students with ideas and tips and things to think about. In both classes, we also nibbled on some really good food. One thing I like about Lara's style of photography is the "natural light" that she uses. Even when she's using artificial lighting, which she sometimes has to do, she will use it in such a way that it looks like natural light coming in from a window. I love it.

I thought I knew some things about food photography, but she taught me some new habits that take my photography to a whole new level, and for that, I am thankful. I highly recommend her classes if you are in the Seattle area.

The best part of the class? Having all of her amazing props to work with! :-)

Here are the highlights from both classes.

  1. oh wow, these are amazing photos! i've always wanted to take a food photography class!! i am going out to seattle for a wedding in august, maybe i could extend the trip so i could take a class!! My problem is that my house never has a lot of good bright natural light. I'd love to learn how to make artificial light look like natural light!
