Afterward, we got to meet him, and my friend Marc was able to tell him that he's made his "Brains Ravioli" before (which impresses even ME) and Mario was particularly excited to hear about it. He even let us give him a shoulder squeeze (see last pictures).
It was a fabulous event put on by Kim Ricketts. I finally got to meet her as well, and I already think she's the bees' knees. Great event, fun people, and Mario is a hoot! He gave us his not-so-conservative opinions on today's trends in cooking, television, and superstar chefs. It was a pretty entertaining talk, to be sure (and he's a bit of a potty-mouth)!
And yes, he wore his signature orange crocs! They matched the equally loud wall behind him.

How fantastic! I love your people shots, those are not easy to do, but you make them look like they are! Giada and Mario in one week--what a great week :)
ReplyDeleteI find photographing people difficult. My shyness takes over and I rush it. These are great.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Wish I could have been there to share in the fun!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I don't know why, but these pics made me chuckle (in a good way). Perhaps it was the colorful stripes on the wall, or the orange crocs, or even the whole "Microsoft" vibe. Too much! What a fun experience it must have been.
ReplyDeleteA great day and a real pleasure to finally meet you in person! thanks for the photos and for the great blog post on the event!

Great post and awesome photos! It was really nice to meet you and hopefully we'll see you at more of these events in the future!
ReplyDeleteOrange crocs + red shorts...LOVE it. I would love to see him speak sometime. He seems very comfortable in his own skin on TV (which is, I'm sure, part of his charm).
